Black Dog Films
started in 1991 as a documentary film company. We started off making films about history (The American West, The US – Canadian Border) for PBS but then started our long associations with The Discovery Channel in 1991. The first series we produced for Discovery was about endangered animals in the Soviet Union – we were the first Americans in Kazakhstan and Kirgizstan since the Russian Revolution! -- and then we spent several years in the Amazon making half-a-dozen films just about anything that crawls, swims, or climbs. We’ve made films about mountain lions, wolves, wolverines, piranhas, anacondas, bison, and on and on. We’ve made films for the world market to: Japan, Sweden, Australia, Israel, and Germany.

Then Discovery asked us to make a film that historically recreates part of the Lewis and Clark expedition – the very first film to be shot in HD at Discovery.

Since then we’ve branched out into sports programming, including shows about NASCAR (Travel Channel) and bodybuilding (FOX SPORTS and Pay-Per-View). You’ll find our work on PBS, FOX, The Travel Channel, Animal Planet, The Discovery Channel, Discovery HD, and Spike.

Today, Black Dog Films is a full-service production company, experienced in just about every phase of commercial and documentary film and video production. We produce everything from commercials to Video News Releases to Infomercials for state, regional, and national clients. For a list of our film credits, please see the credits page.
